Thank you! Give a honk and a wave – I’ll wave back!

Your combo of conventional pigs and organic crops is interesting. We drive up in your neck of the woods all the time for work. I’ll wave next time we pass Cottonwood! 🙂

I totally agree! I just think that farmers arguing methods with other farmers just confuses our consumers. They don’t know who to believe. That’s when we lose them to slick marketing campaigns that are, in fact, defamatory. I would love for all agvocates to share their messages without attacking farming methods that are different than their own. There is such an awesome variety, and so many positive things happening, we don’t need to throw others under the bus. Given a choice, I will choose a positive marketing campaign over a negative one.

Thanks for your comment, Caroline!

Great perspective. It is certainly difficult for consumers to understand different practices if farmers themselves aren’t doing it. I believe one of the biggest discrepancies with the campaign was the fact that they were “falsely advertising” a product and using fear to drive consumer interests. Agricultural literacy is something we must all participate in– no matter what type of production methods we use.

Thank you, Lisa! That is another great analogy!

It was like Gail on the morning show on CBS said just this morning…She was talking about Republicans and Democrats fighting. She said, “It’s like kids fighting with parents in the room and the parents say..Knock it off you’re in the same family for crying out loud!” Just like you said, we are part of the same body but need each other. So, we must respect each other’s opinions and ways of doing things!

Thank you, Janice. This whole thing just kind of fit into some of what I had been thinking about already. Sunday kind of gave me a way to say what had been brewing. I totally agree with you that we all need to consider different opinions on these things. It’s part of the one body, and no part being better than another. Just different.

I saw enough of the nastiness that way and know that many didn’t intend it to look that way but it seems it can be a slippery slope at times. I also noticed some truly respectful dialog. Glad you cooled off and found a way to put your thoughts together for others to read and reflect on. We all need to consider different opinions on these things
